Murder Master #1 – Death Trap

Author:  Joseph Rosenberger

Year:  1973

Murder Master #1

Synopsis: Undercover FBI agent Lou King, known within the underground as the infamous “Murder Master”, takes down a crew of mob defectors from the inside.  The challenge, in addition to not blowing his cover, is to stay alive.

Rating: Book Book Book

Notes: If ever there was a Blaxploitation formula, it appears the Murder Master follows it to a T:  Superbad Black dude who plays by his own rules, sticking it to the man and killing ‘whiteys’ along the way.  The only thing missing is him shacking a bevy of beauties!

Although a fictional novel, there is a piece of social commentary sprinkled in at one point which is still relevant 40+ years later: “Lou reflected that the only thing equal in ignorance to a white bigot was a black militant, who, just as paranoiac and mentally myopic in his myth-making, would have the world believe that all blacks were supermen and all whites were devils straight out of hell!”
